Somewhere in Sheol, on a lone island in the middle of the ocean, stands a tall tower. This is Hallow Asylum, where the most insane and monstrous creatures are sent to be confined and 'helped.' The tower almost seems impenetrable and unescapable. It is hard to tell what it is like in the outside world, because little sunlight is allowed inside the building, making it feel lifeless and dreary on the inside. Inmates can be seen, either walking around accompanied by guards, locked in their cells or working hard at their respective jobs. All seems calm and normal, but every one of these inmates know what kind terrors will befall them if they fall out of line. Part 1: Design

(A/N: You can start now!)
A young girl dressed in a dirty pink kimono was being escorted by two guards through the halls of Hallow Asylum. Her eyes move back and forth, attempting to figure out her surroundings. She didn't like how most of the people looked, and she didn't like how they looked at her. Soon they reached an elevator, and she was forced to stand in the middle with the guards at both sides of her. The elevator shook before it started moving upwards.
Looking down at her bounded hands, the girl tried her best not to cry. It didn't help that she could feel something squirming at the back of her head. Her long hair, rolled in a bun to cover that thing, could be seen shaking as if whatever was underneath it was trying to escape. "S-stop it," she mumbles, hoping the guards didn't hear her. Though it seemed they didn't care at all. With an abrupt stop, the elevator ceased its movement.
"-You have reached Cell Block A-" said the lifeless voice from the intercom. The doors opened and the guards grabbed her by her arms and forced her to continue walking. With her head down, she let them move her to their destination. She wanted to ask them where she was, and even wanted to scream for someone to save her. But her gut told her to not even try.
"We've brought the new patient," says one guard. The two of them stopped and the girl slowly lifted her head to look at who was in front of her. It was someone in a dirty lab coat with face mask covering his mouth. He had strange goggles covering his eyes and his hair was messy. She couldn't help but notice all the stains that painted his coat and gloves. She didn't want to think about where they came from.
"Ah, splendid, you must be Midori, am I correct?" the man asked, his voice muffled because of the face mask. 'Should I answer him?' Midori thought, trying to keep eye-contact with the man. "Y-yes sir..." she let out in a soft voice.
"Wonderful!" the man said, "we've been waiting for you. Your cell is right her to the left, that's the female cell!"
Midori was now losing it. Cell? Did they plan to lock her up? But she didn't do anything!
"Take her in, and make sure she gets comfortable. Something as fascinating as a Two Mouthed Woman should be kept safe and happy after all."
'Two Mouthed Woman?' Midori's eyes widened at the name as many thoughts ran through her head, 'Is that what they call me!?' As she was caught up in her thoughts, the guards dragged her toward the left side cells. Unlocking her shackles, Midori was suddenly thrown into the cell, face landing onto the dirty floor. The smell was enough to bring her back to reality, and she stood up in a startle. Looking at her were a bunch of girls, some of them creatures she's recognizes, while others were entirely new beings.
The cell doors close, and the ominous sound it makes as it shuts makes it clear to Midori that she is now trapped.

"Oh come on! That was funny right? RIGHT?" the creature barked, laughing as he went. Only someone like Shard would think it was funny to try to laugh it up with the guards taking him to his cell, wriggling in his shackles and causing a ruckus. "Am I really going to have to be the life of the party around here? Sheesh!" The large gargoyle sighed heavily. Shard wasn't worried at all how long he'd be here or who he'd have to deal with. He'd be out soon enough, and back on his journey!
"Hey, you know what we could agree on? I'll stay as long as you fellers want, I'm just looking for some new wings! You won't even know I was here!" he kept speaking, the guards trading looks at each other as if they might get together later to bet on how long he'd last like that. Eventually they got to their destination, and simply grunted and nudged him toward his holding room.
"Gee thanks," Shard said, rolling his eyes at how they refused to talk. One guard did grumble, "your cellmates will be back shortly," before slamming the door shut and moving on their ways. "Pfft, bye," he snarled. He gave the bars a good kick with his hoof to see what he was dealing with. "If everyone is this stuffy, maybe I will go insane."

Somewhere in the Asylum cafeteria, a group of four guards sat at one of the tables eating their lunch for the day. Unknown to them, an invisible creature was lurking around, watching their movement for the perfect time to attack. Suddenly, the guards burst out laughing after one of them told a joke. The invisible creature took this as his queue to lift up one of their food filled plates and smash it against one of the guards. Startled by the sudden movement, the guards stopped laughing, only for the other three to have their foods smashed into their faces within seconds of each other.
"What the hell-!?"
"Hahahahaha-" a mischievous laugh was suddenly heard, catching almost everyone's attention. At the end of the table, a young pale man made himself visible to the guards he just messed with. "Damn it, Puck, what the hell is wrong with you!?" yelled a guard, all four of them standing up and ready to pulverize the laughing inmate.
"Aww- come on, can't take a joke? I was just trying to help you stuff your faces!" Puck grinned. "Puck, there you are!" A large guard named Oberon, a rather strong and tall male fairy, runs up to the table, clearly out of breath. "Hey, Oby, nice to see my Guard made it to the party. You should have seen what I did to these guys-"
"No time you moron, I need to bring you back to your cell. Your new cellmate has just arrived-"
"Yo, Fairy-Boy!" One of the guards grabbed Oberon by his uniform collar and proceded to lift him up. "Folks like Puck from Cell Block B are your responsibility, aren't they!? You're lucky you got here when you did or we would have pounded the shit out of you little Sandman here."
"Oooooh, I'm so scared!" Puck said in a high pitched voice before laughing. Irritated, the guard put Oberon down and then left the Cafeteria with the other guards. Puck waved at them with a smug smile on his face. "Puck, I wish, just for once, that you'd listen to me and not turn invisible like you did!"
"Come on, man, live a little. You got to admit, those guys are pretty fun to mess with. And aren't they Cell Block A guards? You're way more experienced than them!" Oberon sighed, "Doesn't matter." He then yanked Puck off the table and proceded to put shackles on his wrists. The shackles were connected to a long chain that he would use to guide Puck along. The shackles were also designed to shock Puck if he were to become invisible and try to escape. "Let's go back now, your new cellmate must be waiting."
"Yeah, yeah." The two left the cafeteria and used the elevator to get back to Cell Block B. Puck, to pass the time, made goofy faces at whoever made eye contact with him and playfully flirtatious ones at female inmates and nurses. "Seriously, how'd I get stuck with you..." Oberon groaned. Reaching Puck's assigned cell, Oberon used his key to open it before leading Puck inside.
Puck looked at the other creature who was waiting in the cell. It was clearly male and looked like a Gargoyle. But something wasn't right..."...And I thought I was weird looking..." he said. Oberon quickly released Puck's wrist from the shackles and proceded to close the cell doors. "Please don't kill him," the fairy said.
Puck got the feeling those words were meant more for his new roommate and not him. "Uh...Hey dude, what's up? I'm Puck, resident Sandman of Hallow Asylum Cell Block B. Of course, I doubt I'm the only Sandman here, but you get the gist, right?"

"Sandman, eh? I don't think I've come across one before. After all, I need to be awake at night," he laughed. "The name's Shard, dunno if I'm the only Gargoyle around these parts, but it sure is nice that the place seems to be dark all day." He was feeling pretty pleased to have found a fellow night dweller as a cellmate. He caught a slight weird vibe from this Puck guy though. "Something wrong, fellah?"

Somewhere in the upper levels of the asylum a bored Pari was sitting in her cell waiting for an opportune moment to bother her guard again. She picked up her cup that she used to bath herself with and threw it the back of his head. "I'm bored Ryu, do something entertaining," she said.
"I am not here to be your entertainment, Lilliana, as I've told you hundreds of times since I was assigned as your guard five years ago." Lilliana sighed and banged her head against the wall of her cell.
"And I've told you hundreds of times to call me Lilli. Damn you are the most stuck up guard I've had in all my fifty years of being in this place." She started to fiddle with the bracelet that kept her wings bound, before moving her hand to outline the scar on her right arm. "I have to use the bathroom, if you would be so kind as to escort me there Ryu," she smiled, not looking nearly as insane as she really was.
"Fine, but don't try anything funny." He unlocked her cell, put cuffs on here to restrain her and her control over fire, and gently grabbed her arm to lead her to the bathroom.
"You worry to much, I only try kill my guards after ten years, you're much to new for me to try anything. Besides, as a dragon you should be highly resistant to my fire if not immune to it. So you don't have to worry about me trying to set you on fire or anything," she said in a haughty tone, but let herself be led to the bathroom. When she was done she was informed that it was time for her to eat lunch. Lilli and her guard walked to the elevator and proceeded to go down to the cafeteria.

'Gargoyle...' Puck stared at Shard, a little surprised that this man was a Gargoyle. 'Strange, I thought Gargoyles were supposed to have big wings...' he thought. When his new cellmate asked what was wrong, Puck was very surprised. "Ha, you can actually tell that something's wrong? And you're not a mind reader, are you? At least I hope you're not. The things I think are usually not the nicest." Puck grinned, "But yeah, I was wondering why you don't have any wings. I thought that Gargoyles were supposed to have these huge monstrous wings!" Puck said, his arms spread out wide as if to emphasize his point.

When Lilli and Ryu got to the cafeteria she saw some disgruntled guards and inmates. She sighed and said "Puck got you guys again didn't he, you should pay more attention especially here." She smirked and walked passed them and whispered "you never know who will show up from higher blocks." And with that she laughed and got in line to get her food, with Ryu walking close behind her.

'There are a total of 10 double bunk beds in this place, for 20 people, all put together in this small space. This isn't the only cell either, I bet...'
Midori could hear her stomach growling, but she didn't want to leave the comfort of the corner of the large cell. As long as she sat in the far back corner, then she wouldn't attract any of the other girl's attention. Suddenly, Midori felt the back of her head move, and her hair bun was starting to become undone. "N-No-No, stop it!" she cried, putting her hands to the back of her hair to try and keep it still.
"Hey you, new girl!" Midori didn't want to look up and find out who was talking to her, but it sounded mean and she didn't want to provoke it to yell at her more. Looking up, Midori could see a mummy girl sitting on one of the dirty bunk beds. "You know you can walk around, right? We're not a threat to the rest of them, after all."
"She looks frail," a harpy whispered, holding back a giggle, "she looks like easy prey."
"Chill, girl, if you wanna eat go to the cafeteria!"
"Cafeteria?" She can get food! The thought triggered another growl from her stomach and her head twitched again. As fast as she could, Midori stood up and ran out of the cell. She could hear laughing and talking from behind but she didn't have time to figure out what they were saying.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa- where are you going?" A female guard stopped Midori from running too far.
"I-I-I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Midori cried out, worried that the guard will hurt her. "I-I just wanted to go to the Cafeteria!"
The guard let out a sigh and gently let the girl out. "Come on then," she said, "luckily I don't have to cuff you since it's clear you won't do anything." The guard guided Midori back to the elevators and toward the Cafeteria.

"No, I'm not a mind..." he started, before Puck began talking about his wings. So THAT'S what the punk was looking at! "Oh, I'll tell ya about my wings!" he said with nostrils flared, clearly something had touched a nerve. "I had the fourth largest wingspan in my clan, that's fer damn sure! And then those...those vandals, oh they were jealous I bet you!" Shard kept moving closer to Puck, talking dramatically with large hand motions. "Andthey snapped them right off of my back whiles I stoneslept one day! They paid, they paid gooooood. Didn't pay enough, in my opinion." He punctuated his sentence by jabbing his index finger into Puck's chest.

After standing in line for a few minutes, Lilli finally got her food, charbroiled steak that day, when she heard some shuffling on the other side of the room. As she sat down, she looked over and saw a green haired girl wearing what she was told was called a kimono walking into the cafeteria. 'I've never seen her before, she must be new.' She smiled to herself and waited for her to get closer before she said "You must be new here, I'm Lilliana, what's your name?" staring directly at the green haired girl.
Ryu then whispered into Lilli's ear "Behave your self Lilliana"
"What? It's not like I can do anything with these cuffs or bracelet on, so what's the harm in talking to her?" She huffed before turning back to the other girl "Sorry bout him, but you still haven't told me your name,"she smiled waiting for a reply from the other girl.

Puck stared at Shard with wide eyes, before slowly starting to laugh. He laughed loudly for a good second, the goofy grin never leaving his face. "Oh, wow, man- you're a riot! I've been waiting for someone like you, someone loud and boisterous! You know, kinda like me." Puck grabbed Shard's much larger hand pushed it to the side so that his finger wasn't jabbing him in the chest anymore.
"I like you already, Shard, so I'm gonna help ya' settle down. Ya see, I've been stuck in this here Asylum for nearly two years. Cellmates come and go, most likely dead by now. But you got nothing to worry about, just stick to the rules and you'll live a fun life here! No responsibilities whatsoever!" Puck explained proudly, making it sound like living in the Asylum was the best thing that ever happened to him. "I'm just kinda hoping that none of the other inmates think you're some Chimera reject or something, you know what I mean?" Puck grinned, elbowing Shards side. It was kind of awkward looking since Shard was so much bigger than the Sandman, but he didn't mind.
"So, ask me anything you want! Heck, I'll even take you out on a tour myself if I have to!"

Chamena stared blankly at the wall in front of her. How long had it been since she'd been taken to this place? A day? A year? Time lost its meaning long ago, back when she'd been taken hostage by the curse. She absently rubbed the webbing between her fingers with the other hand, feeling dead skin flaking away.
"Water... I need water..." She mumbled, rubbing away more and more dead skin. A guard tapped on her cell door, peering in through the slot.
"Need to moisten up, love?" She looked up at him, gold eyes dull as she nods. He smiled, disappearing for a few moments. Far away, she heard the sound of running water. I just want to leave... Why can't I leave? She shook her head, leaning back against the headboard of her bed. No, you know why Cham... You're dangerous. That's why you have to wear that damn muzzle every time you go out. The door to her cell slides open as the guard enters, dragging a bucket of water with him.
"Here you go, love. It wouldn't be good if you dried out on me, would it?" She nodded again, smiling faintly as she plunged her hands into the refreshing liquid.
"Thank you." A tune began playing in her head, making her hum softly as she ran her soaking hands along her arms and legs.
"Chamena, you know you're not supposed to sing..." The guard watched her nervously, feeling its spell start to take hold.
" Say, can I get some food please? I'm getting hungry..."
"But love--" She sprang to her feet, fitting right under his nose. Her skin prickled as the scales began to overtake it.
"Food. NOW!" The guard jumped back, her song's spell breaking.
"O-Okay, please, don't hurt me! Come on, let's get your muzzle..."

(To Lorelei: Yup! You're doing fine!)
Midori walked through the cafeteria with the guard, who she has learned is a 'Naga' and her name was Gorgon. She was really surprised to see how gentle this guard actually was, even though her half-snake appearance frightened her.
"You line up there and get a tray. Since you're Cell Block A, you'll get what they have displayed."
Midori looked at Gorgon curiously, "H-how will they know what Cell I'm from?"
"They'll know, trust me." Gorgon replied. Midori nodded, not wanting to irritate the guard by asking more questions. She thought it was going to be smooth sailing from here, until she was greeted by a strange woman. Midori looked at the person who had stopped her and was surprised by her appearance.
"U-um-um-I'm-" Midori was too scared to answer the red-head. "Ryu, please keep your inmate from communicating with others like this. This young demoness is from Cell Block A, there is no reason for them to converse." Gorgon said with a hiss toward the dragon guard, her snake-like tongue flicking in and out of her mouth in anger.
"M-Miss Gorgon, it's okay!" Midori quickly stepped in, not wanting for anyone to get in trouble. "I'm Midori...I'm a demon from the East." She bowed in politeness.

Shard was still steaming as Puck started to speak. He didn't know whether to be furious that Puck seemed to take his story like a piece of crap, or to let the guy just keep running his mouth until he was done and see if he had a point. He quickly came to the conclusion that the kid was just getting away from the treacherous subject and was on his side. Eventually Shard started laughing too. How could he hold a grudge on someone who would help a fellow out? "Bahaha! An inmate mistaking me for a Chimera? You'd best be ready to watch a show because they wouldn't know what was coming!" His hand patted the Sandman's shoulder pretty forcefully. Made for each other, these two "I's got a burning question, actually! Tell me how these guard shenanigans work, like are they actually any good at keeping the prisoners inside or what?" Now with a partner at his side, they'd be outta here in a few more days!
