Name: Shard
Species: Gargoyle
Age: 40, though he has looked the same all his life
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Panspecies ("They want it, I got it!"). Prefers being bottom.
Appearance: In stone form, he is made of black speckled granite, while in his flesh form his skin is a light grey-green color. His arms are long and wiry, reaching to just under his knees. His hands are human but the fingers are a little longer than average. His legs are stouter and resemble that of a horse, with prominent hooves, and likes to stand with his legs slightly bent. His face somewhat resembles a lion. He used to have wings, one feathered and another batlike, but they were broken off by delinquents.
It looked better in my mind, I swear.
Reason for Being in Asylum: General destructive habits due to his temper tantrums.
Motivation: To get out of the Asylum and find a Sculptor to fix his wings. He pretty much doesn't go a day without talking about his search for the Sculptor.
Strengths: Can willingly change his hands and hooves to solid granite, making them ideal for melee fighting; loves kicking. He also has moderate regenerative ability, his flesh form easily heals minor injury. In his stone form, however, any marks or injury are permanent.
Weaknesses: Sunlight, since it turns him into his inanimate stone form. He has also lost his ability to fly, something he took great pride in. He doesn't take the time to think things through and nearly always acts on instinct.
Likes: Darkness, pranking others, conversing with others, being boisterous
Dislikes: Damn teenagers, sitting around doing nothing, serious people
Brief History:
Shard is a gargoyle of the clan Hailstorm, named so because this group has taken advantage of the extremely short days in the northern winters to allow them to have heightened activity. They generally go on with life in relative peace with the other creatures in the land they travel, but Shard and a few others had become pranksters. Shard especially liked to cut off electricity going to others' homes to turn off the lights, to make it darker at night. A side effect however was also turning off heat and running water, often leaving the family inside to freeze overnight. He was never reprimanded by the clan though, even getting a couple chuckles from higher-ups.
One day, when the days began to lengthen again at the end of the winter, Shard perched too low before sunrise, leaving him vulnerable to passerby. This is when a gang of miscreant creatures of many types, mostly in their "teenage" years, decided it would be funny to break off his stone wings. When Shard woke up again, the only thing left were two stumps and a couple of feathers on his back. He was obviously furious, and immediately took it out on the kids, killing them and destroying a lot of the surrounding area due to his temper tantrum. His clan looked down on him, not so much for the destruction he caused, but for being so absent minded and not perching somewhere else. Shard would not be allowed back in the clan until he got his wings fixed by a Sculptor, a special group of Goblins whose job it is to create the Gargoyles. On his way to the land of Goblins, however, he was taken into the Asylum because he kept taking down cities that would not help him along the journey.
