Characters that are Free to Use: Guards
The Guards are the ones keeping track of the inmates and always making sure no one steps out of line. Guards in Cell Blocks A and B are skilled, but they are not required to follow the inmates around. As a result, these are the guards mostly seen around the Asylum standing watch. On the other hands, guards from Cell Blocks C and D are much more efficient at their job than those in below blocks and are required to follow their inmates around.
All Guards work under the Warden, Cerberus, and they all take orders from him (unless the Asylum Head happens to be around, and if so, they take orders from him instead.)
List of Known Guards: Oberon- Guard assigned to Puck and Shard Ryu- Guard assigned to Lilliana
Nurses The nurses of the Asylum range from being nice to look at, to being downright terrifying. They do a lot of check ups, and a couple of them even take the time to converse with certain inmates. Their personalities and physical appearances vary, and not all of them have the same uniform. However, they do all share one thing in common: they look like living mannequins.
Characters that Only I Get To Control:
Doctors
The Doctors of the Asylum are just as feared as most would expect. Inmates must all go down to the Operating Room to have a check up at least once in their stay at the Asylum, but what the check up involves depends on what Doctor you get. Some Doctors simply do a check up, while others will go as far as to use you as experiments. What happens is up to chance, but be wary of these staff members because they are capable of killing you.
Cerberus
The Prison Guard Warden, a mean looking Anthropomorphic Hell Hound who is in charge of all the guards. He isn't exactly the most fair man around and takes his job to the extremes. At times, he will even smack around certain inmates for the hell of it, taking sadistic pleasure in seeing them squirm. Cerberus is so arrogant, he would even challenge Cell Block D inmates to a battle in the Arena. He does have a soft side though, mostly towards the Guards, and if there is anything good that can be said about him, it is that he's not , by all means, a coward.
Apparently the only person he will break down in fear in front of is the Asylum Head. In fact, the mere mention of his boss is able to break him down to a sobering mess.
Head Hunters
The Head Hunters are a group of Asylum Inmates that your characters need to look out for. They are a group of 9 Inmates who are said to have committed the most gruesome crimes out of all the inmates, but are also very intelligent and skilled and so are hired by the Asylum Head as his personal help. As a result, they are not placed in the Cells and instead given places much higher in the tower to stay. They are not nice, at all, in fact they're worse than Corrupt. The closer your character gets to escaping and the more suspicious they become, the more likely they'll become a target of one (or even all) of the Head Hunters.
No one outside of the Asylum Head has actually met the Head Hunters, but there are many rumors abouts them throughout the Asylum and talking about them will even send shivers down Cerberus' spine.
Asylum Head The person who created, owns, and runs Hallow Asylum. It is said he doesn't live in the building, but actually goes around Sheol looking for new 'patients.' He does this by attending trials or visiting hospitals. It is also said that he always changes his appearance and is always on the move, meaning that if you did encounter him, you wouldn't know it.
He is a frightening man who is only reachable by one phone in the Office. Everyone in the Asylum, including Staff, should be warned that meeting him would either mean he's going to reward you, or kill you in his own special way.

Guard No.517 Oberon Western Fairy Age: 40 in Fairy Years, but he looks like he's in his late 20s. Guard Position: Leading Guard of Block B; Puck and Shard
Skills: Very quick, intelligent, and is skilled in sneak attacks. Though it doesn't show, Cerberus considers him one of the deadliest guards in Block B (which is why he's assigned to Puck.)
Personality: Surprisingly calm and is capable of controlling his temper like it's nobodies business. He is, however, not a pushover and is not afraid to deal out punishments to inmates he thinks deserves it. His calm yet controlling nature is the reason why he has remained Puck's guard for nearly two years.
Brief Bio:Puck and Shard's guard. Oberon is a hardworking fairy who is actually more deadly and skilled than he likes to admit. He is not too fond of Puck's antics and has, on many occasions, wanted to kill the Sandman. Unfortunately, he is the only guard who can get Puck to listen and the only one willing to handle him, and this includes the paperwork of complaints from other inmates and guards.

Guard No. 1021 Ryu Age: 200 (21 in appearance) Guard Position: Cell block C, Lilliana
Skills: Fire-proof, quick, intelligent, and extremely tolerable
Personality: Slow to anger and seems to take everything in stride, he is one of the most patient guards the asylum has to offer, which is why he was given to the almost "ADD" Lilliana. However by being asigned to her he is almost guaranteed to have only a ten year run before mysteriously disappearing.

Guard No. 627- Prion Age:74 according to the Oreads, but appears about 26. Guard Position: Block D; Chamena
Skills: Very intelligent, incredibly strong and durable, quick on his feet, tone-deaf, empathy.
Personality: Prion is very patient and compassionate, something that usually wouldn't make him ideal for a guard. However, growing up in the southern mountains of Aegethen is no easy feat, and Prion is able to hold his own in any situation. Originally a guard in Block C, he was promoted to being Chamena's guard after Cerberus realized that the Siren's song didn't affect him as much as it did the other guards. He has since grown very attached to her, seeing her more as a scared and confused girl than a murderer.

Dr. Bane Demon (Western) Age:126 (appears 40) Preferred 'Healing' Method: Liquids Info: A doctor who loves liquids and anything that has to do with it. He loves testing what kinds of liquids inmates can ingest before they vomit or die. It's rumored he collects the drained blood of certain inmates and then forces it down other inmates throats. Most Likely Patients: Anyone can become his patients, but it's more likely you'll get him if you're associated with water.
Dr. Somnos Elf (Western) Age: 97 (looks 30) Preferred 'Healing' Method: Relaxing the patient and Lethal Injection Info:One of the nicest doctors you could get and the most calm. Somnos is known to have a very soothing, relaxing voice and has attracted many inmates because of that. Unfortunately he has one hell of a temper, but that only emerges when a patient is being stubborn. He is homosexual. Most Likely Patients: He only does Check Ups and doesn't perform any testing. Most likely he'll be the one doing your monthly check ups. He is, however, called in when needed to perform an execution via Lethal Injection.

Guard No.173 Hemming Age: Unknown, his appearance stopped aging at 42. Guard Position: Block C; Emim Skills: As a Nøkk, Vann is an incredibly skilled violin player, and has learned to play the piano. His music has a calming effect on those who hear it. Personality: Friendly, slow-spoken and laid back, Vann doesn't seem to have the personality one might expect of the guard assigned to a potentially rampaging sociopathic giant, though this actually helps him in his duties. Calm as he is, he manages to keep his cool even during Emim's rages, allowing him to play his music perfectly and bring her back down.

Name : Basel Lecker
Age : 37
Species : Svartálfar (black elf, also known as dwarves)
Position : Chef
Skills : Cooking, specifically baking. He is known for his use of Kirschwasser (cherry brandy) and honey in the making of sweet meats. He used to use hazelnuts until a new guard suffered a bad allergic reaction.
Personality : In contrast to his gruff appearance and perpetually angry-sounding voice, Basel actually has a strong sense of humor. Sure most of his jokes are dirty ones you wouldn't tell your in-laws (many being about his in-laws), but he does know a few golden ones. Being a dwarf, he likes strong stoic types, and places a high value on personal hardiness. If you manage to get on his good side, you may find yourself treated to candied fruits for desert with your meal.

Guard No. 547: Habhara Age: 60 Species: Garuda Guard Position: The Pit, Moortimier
Skills: A great flyer, he is also an expert in staff-wielding and throwing javelins. Is also immune to most poisons.
Personality: Habhara is a man of immense patience. As far as anyone is concerned, he has never been angry at anyone, only disappointed with them. At the same time, he is always weary of his work, having wanted to do something more self-fulfilling in life. He complements Moortimier's personality well because the tree golem respects his authority since he hardly exerts force, and thus keeps him under control with minimal effort. However, Habhara has never really been able to cheer Moortimier up, and his crankiness has started to rub onto the usually optimistic guard.

Guard No.6 Wolfe
Age: Unknown
Species : Werewolf
Guard Position: He heads a group of enforcers who are called in put down riots or to subdue particularly dangerous inmates during outbursts. He doesn't guard any prisoner directly.
Skills: At just under 6'6" and well-built, Malcolm is already quite strong in his human form. He has the ability to transform into an even larger black wolf at will. If some of the rumors about him are true, then he may also very well be immortal.
Personality: No one who knows Malcolm would describe him as a 'people person'. He has one job at the asylum, and he is very good at it, but unless his help is needed most people try not to talk to him. His extraordinarily creepy smile certainly doesn't help matters. Due to this, he tends to assume that anyone who talks to him wants something. He tends to growl in response to annoyance in both his forms and is described as having a rather intimidating demeanor. He never eats in the cafeteria, preferring to hunt his own food in the forest. He always has a radio on hand, and so can be called in from anywhere.
Rumors : Rumor has it that Malcolm is the son of Hati, the wolf which hunts the moon according to Norse mythology. It is also rumored that he is the 'big bad wolf' from many stories and fairytales. Both of these rumors would suggest that he does not age, and as the wolf is often killed in those stories these rumors seem to suggest he can regenerate from nearly any wound, making him effectively immortal. It is also rumored that he never leaves the asylum, spending his nights on the higher floors watching the moon. If this is the case, it's quite possible that he could be called to hunt down any escapees who manage to get out at night.

Name : Sven Dahl
Age : 'Old Enough' (In his own words. Old enough for what, he never says. The hair around his temples is graying, indicating he has been alive for some time.)
Species : Bergfolk
Position : Chef
Skills : Sven is a skilled soup chef, specializing in tomato-based soups and stews. He is cripplingly overspecialized, though, and his non-soup dishes are mediocre at best. When he doesn't have tomatoes in his recipes, his cooking has been described as 'half-hearted', whatever that means.
Personality : When not cooking, Sven's personality could be described as a bit 'goofy', partially due to his apparent clumsiness combined with an outwardly happy-go-lucky personality. Those who have worked with him in the kitchen report a completely different personality, however. When cooking Sven becomes extremely professional and serious, and tends to use exact measurements to the point that trying to help him prepare one of his signature dishes has been described as 'nightmarish'. It is also noted that his clumsiness vanishes when in the kitchen, suggesting that it might just be an act he puts on for some reason or another. In any case, those who don't need to work with him behind the scenes often describe him as friendly.
Additional Notes : While not a member of the combat-trained staff, it has been noted that Sven 'swings a mean pan'.

Guard No. 821: Thage Gallows Age: Looks to be in her late twenties, but is actually around sixty. Species: Alp (or Mara as the females are called) Guard Position: Block D, Tezcatlipoca
Skills: Though she requires her hat (her Tarnkappe) to actually do anything, she can shapeshift at will—generally choosing to form weapons with her hands/arms rather than manipulate her whole form. Even if she changes her form completely her old bowler hat would give her identity away so she doesn’t bother.
Personality: Thage often seems apathetic, but she takes her duties very seriously. She just doesn’t get worked up easily. She also never questions orders and has little sympathy for her wards. Thage acknowledges most of the inmates are not actually insane, but she strongly believes they all deserve to be there.

Guard No. 56 Campe Half-Demon/Half-Dragon Age: Estimated 200+ Years Guard Position: Leading Guard of the Pit
Skills: Unspeakable strength (a poke from her can break your bones); skilled in battle with a spear and combines said skills with the use of her scorpion tail.
Personality: She comes off as friendly, playful, and even seductive to her fellow guards and a few inmates, but if she's angry and after your sorry ass, just let her kill you (it'll save her the trouble). When Campe's angry, she's unstoppable and will chase anyone to the other end of the world if they run away from her. As a result, no Pit inmate has ever attempted to escape, as they fear her wrath.
Brief Bio: Campe has been around since the beginning of the Asylum, and she has remained loyal and proficient at the job ever since. She believes protecting and being in charge of the inmates is the only thing she can excel in (since she is inexplicably bad at everything else), and so takes it very seriously.
Surprisingly, Campe finds how some Guard Leaders punish their inmates to be overkill and is probably the easiest of the Guard Leaders to approach without fear (just make sure not to piss her off, like by trying to leave the Asylum).

Guard No. 2022: Gaz Nexord Age: Undead for 26 years, died at age 19 Species: Zombie Guard Position: The Pit, Moortimier
Skills: Basically, he can't die. Also crafty with chains.
Personality: Considering he died fairly young, Gaz is probably one of the more immature guards. He's only been around for a year and a half, and had not been previously assigned a cellmate, since they usually had him on patrol or elevator duties. Blunt, obtrusive, and generally with his mind in the gutter, he can be pretty damn rude without realizing it. At the same time, it doesn't take much to have him like you, or hate you for that matter. He doesn't remember his days with the living, and so has decided it was a probably a boring piece of shit and enjoys his current status as undead. Has more of a taste for intestines than for brains.
(edited to shorten his employment time)

Dr. Bloodroot Living-Plant Age:89 Preferred 'Healing' Method: Herbs, Fungi and Poisonous Plants Info: A doctor who specializes in making medicines from different plants, fungi and herbs that she grows herself. She is rather gentle compared to other doctors, but what frightens a lot of people is that she manages to keep that kindness even when she's poisoning someone. Most Likely Patients: Anyone can become her patients, but it's more likely you'll get her if you're associated with plants.

Guard No. 865 Chess Western Cat Demon Age: 96 years (20 in appearance) Guard Position: Key Chamber Guard
Skills: Keen senses allow him to be very alert of his surroundings. Also extremely agile and moves so fast it's almost like he can disappear. Excellant craftsman.
Personality: While seeming like a nice guy, Chess is very apathetic and honest to a fault. He does not like concerning himself with the emotions or problems of others and says whatever he wants to others faces. This makes his job as a guard rather easy since he can punish an inmate and not feel guilty about it.
However, he is not anti social as he chooses to talk with others. It's just that he wouldn't even flinch if something happened to them. He is also known for not showing that much emotion towards others, never cracking a smile or even frowning.
Brief Bio: When looking at Chess and his personality, most expect him to come from a broken home or to have survived a tragic incident. In reality, Chess life growing up was a very privileged one, one that most patients and guards could only dream of. Then why is he in the Asylum in the first place? Because he was hoping that being around mentally ill people could help him develop some form of empathy. Over time, however, he had given up on the goal and, up to now, is fine with the way he is.
He used to be a Block C guard, but his treatment of others and lack of emotions frightened and angered many patients and guards. It was to the point where Cerberus had to transfer him to the Key Chamber, where his skills are more suited.
