Agreed. I think it's a really venomous fandom, I think I've found one really good artist on tumblr who literally is the nicest person ever. Besides that, not so much. The shipping is out of fucking control I think Hussie's on record to say that he's planning it to end next year, so he has figured that out. His updating (from what I've heard from others) hasn't been as prolific as before so it might get stretched by time and not by content. I almost always tend to refrain judgement until I see the finished project as a whole, so I'm very much looking forward to it.

The shipping is mainly because the Trolls are bisexual (except Kanaya), not to mention that strange relationship thing they got going with the card suits (and yes, I don't understand that either) and none of the kids have signs of being romantically attracted to anyone. Though Dirk is in love with Jake, and Jake kissed his disembodied head, so that says a lot.
Even Hussie has poked fun at how the fandom is shipping obsessed- which I actually do respect. Even he realize how crazy his fans are. I hope that when it does end next year, it's going to be a real 'BANG', even though I don't know what the definite goal of Homestuck is anymore. Is it to stop Lord English? To set the universe straight so that there are no more resets? Both? I hope that when the video game's out, I can finally get my head around the story.
Also, back to the Beta and Alpha kids thing- so when their roles as players are switched in the universe, does that also mean that the roles of guardians are switched as well? So Rose becomes Roxy's mom, Dave become's Dirk's bro, and so on and so forth? Or is it a bunch of new guardians? I know I could simply go and read the wiki, but I have to leave the space in my brain for Chemistry...

The card suits definitely got a full explanation during the story, so never fear. However, I have absolutely no clue where it is so I won't attempt to find it this time. Basically it capitalizes on the notion that a love relationship and a hate relationship have the same amount of required passion, and are thus both legitimate (the heart and the spade symbolize them). Diamond is pure platonic friends-4-lyfe, and the symbol of clubs is actually a group of three, where the top leaf of the clover symbolizes the friend that keeps the other two together or rather, keeps them from killing each other. But it's nice that romance has never been a huge part of Homestuck, it's mainly only been dealt with outside the story and through the fandom.
As for the Alpha/Beta kids: you got it! The only difference is that, because Roxy and Dirk got sent so far into the future that they end up just being bloodline descendants (I think) of Dave and Rose. John and Jade become the new grandparents of Jake and Jane. The universe is too lazy to make new ones apparently. One key thing though! Each universe does create a new First guardian, this would include Becquerel for the Beta kids and Doc Scratch for the Trolls. The Alpha kids have Godcat (what an original name, lol) as theirs. The one for the Ancestor trolls hasn't been named yet, and maybe might be a plot point no one has paid attention to yet. Godcat hasn't done all that much either, while the other two are super important.
I think it's obvious I really like to tell people things about things.

Oh I know where to find the explanation, and you're like the fourth person to explain to me how it works. All I can really get is the heart represent a real relationship, the spade represents a nemesis-like relationship, the club represents a relationship between three friends with one of the friends keeping the other two together, and the diamond representing four friends who want to be together for life.
But the trolls also have a weird term for who they designate as their 'lover' and it seems like there's no such thing as long term relationships in their world. Oh well, romance isn't important anyway. And I heard that recently, Hussie demolished the Jadesprite/Davesprite ships pretty badly- so I am applauding him for that. Nothing ruins a show more than obsessive shipping- ship all you want, but don't forget that your series isn't a romance.

Actually, the last update was with real Jade and Davesprite breaking up, though the relationship was never shown. I think Jadesprite is off on her own somewhere, and real Dave is with Rose and the trolls right now on a meteor. Jade and John are on a battleship together, and both teams are flying into the new post-scratch world but it's taking them three years to do so (two years have elapsed).
But yeah, it's definitely changed a lot of fan perceptions, and I know you said you shipped Jade/Dave, which technically can still happen just not with Davesprite. I'm also pretty sure that the only reason Hussie brings up the break-up is more for the "I have been stuck here for two years with the same people" drama than the romance, which I also applaud.

God I have a lot to catch up with I'll probably wait until Homestuck is on its last Act before I step in though, or when I have more free time. Or I'll just wait for the video game, that'll probably help clear up certain plot points for me. It helps that almost half the people I follow are Homestuck and constantly reblog posts about the updates, so I'm not always left out of the loop.

Yeah, I never realized how much I knew about Act 6 until I started it. It definitely helps to know the names in advanced too. I might be biased, but you could keep going until where I actually caught up, the page with a really important flash movie where Caliborn was spoilers: (revealed to be Lord English) and it leaves you on a sort of cliffhanger. If I hadn't kept checking in since then, I would have been fairly happy staying there until Act 6 finished, or Act 7 depending on how quickly that will be.
Edit: the end in question turns out to actually be the end of Act 6 Act 3 (they're all pretty short actually) and now they're in A6A3 Intermission (which I'm also expecting to be about the same length). I didn't even remember that, lol. Makes sense though.

That's an interesting theory I wouldn't be too surprised if that was the case.

Yeah, I knew it was weird that I couldn't remember where Jadesprite went, so that seems to makes sense.

Damn, I have a lot to catch up on DX I feel like I should just go ahead and read the wiki summaries, but I don't want to miss out on the awesome flash movies.

I forget. I know I'm somewhere in the middle of Act 5 Act 2. I stopped because it was getting too ridiculously long and too complicated for me to keep up << I'll get back to it when I'm not going crazy.

Hmm. Had you gotten all the trolls introduced to you? I know when I stopped I was on Kanaya's page for like months.
